In addition to conducting our own online tutoring program, Shiksha Daan partners with other local organizations to help recruit volunteers from the Indian community to support their tutoring and mentoring programs.

Partners: Meet the Team

Serve as a mentor for a college student from a low-income family background. Time commitment is only about 2 hours a month. The main requirement for mentors is to have completed a 4-year college degree program.

Serve as a mentor for an elementary to middle school student from a refugee family. The time commitment is two 40-minute sessions each week. This opportunity is available to interested people over 16 years of age.

Serve as a tutor to adults who are preparing to complete their high school equivalency diploma requirements. You can choose which subject you want to tutor - English, math, history, science, social science, etc. The requirement to be a tutor is that you should have completed high school - although they prefer college graduates or those attending college. Time commitment is one 2 hour session a week.

 Y.O.U. provides job skills training to high school students and young adults, and helps place them in jobs. They have a need for volunteers to help with resume writing workshops, mock interviews, serve on career panels, etc. The typical time commitment for an activity is one hour - you sign up based on volunteer opportunities that are available and fit your schedule and interest.
